The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Cicely LaMothe has been named as an associate director in the agency's Division of Corporation Finance.
In her new position, Ms. LaMothe will join associate directors Paul Belvin, James Daly, Karen Garnett, and Barry Summer in overseeing the division’s disclosure program under the leadership of deputy director Shelley Parratt.
“I am delighted to welcome Cicely to the division’s senior leadership team. Her experience and skills as an accountant will enhance our oversight of corporate disclosure,” said Keith Higgins, director of the Division of Corporation Finance.
Ms. LaMothe joined the division in 2002 and has served since November 2013 as the acting assistant director of its Office of Real Estate and Commodities. Since 2011, she has been the office’s senior assistant chief accountant, where she manages the accounting staff and leads reviews of public company financial statements and related disclosure. She previously served as an accounting branch chief and as a staff accountant in the division’s disclosure operations program.
Before coming to the SEC, Ms. LaMothe worked for six years in the private sector, including as the financial reporting manager for a public company and as a senior associate with a national accounting firm. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hampton University in 1996. She was recognized at the SEC’s annual awards program this week by as the recipient of the Byron Woodside Award, given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the SEC’s full disclosure program.
